Default 1966 mustang rear axle swap

I have a 1966 Ford Mustang with the original six cylinder engine and four lug wheels and hubs. I have found many front disc brake conversion kits to make this car a five lug bolt pattern. My question is does anyone know of an axle swap that will fit this car but still retain the 7-1/2 rear axle housing. I am keeping the inline six cylinder engine but there are very few options for wheels for the four lug pattern. I want to swap it to a five lug pattern but keep all the original parts in case I ever sell the car or decide to put it back to factory. My problem with a complete rear end swap is i dont have the room to keep the factory rear end. I could store 2 axle shafts really easy. I do not want to redrill the factory axle flanges as I feel this would weaken the flanges. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum theres two problems with your idea one you'll have to have axles made for a 5 lug and two the 7.5 rear end isn't all that strong you up the power any you'll break it.Your looking about 300 up for axles made for it like that. Drilling new stud holes making it a 5 lug weakens the axle end never a good idea.

Another idea would be to find a wrecked Explorer or Ranger and pull the rear axle out. It's an 8.8 with limited slip and already has leaf spring mounting pads and should be close enough to the right size. They'll need to be moved over the axle, though. A local welding or muffler shop should be able to help you with that.
