I am kinda partial to Holley. They are middle of the line and can be purchased reasonably. They also make good refurbished ones as well. Jegs has about the best prices I have seen on the performance ones:
Holley 2-Barrel Carburetors - JEGS
Holley Street 2-Barrel Carburetors & Kits - JEGS

What's wrong with the current carb?

The Autolite 2100/4100 carbs are very well built, efficient carbs. A properly rebuilt and adjusted 2100 will run very well. If yours is junk (parts missing, worn throttle shaft, etc) you can find good rebuildable ones on eBay for a very nice price. Yes, the rebuilt Pony Carbs aren't exactly free, at they? I bought a decent 2100 on eBay, rebuilt it myself, and it runs pretty good now that I have it adjusted properly.

I just got a replacement carb from Autozone. Remanufactured or rebuilt, whatever the correct term is. They had 2 brands for the same price, one of them was Holley, so I got that for like $120. I figure this will hold me over until it becomes time for an upgrade to 4 barrel.

Hello. My car has an autolite 2100 on it and it runs just fine. It gets something like 18 or 19 mpg around town. The carb that you have can be put into a similar condition as long as the main casting isn't cracked or something. Those are very good carburetors.
