Default 1969 Mustang Mach 1 seat belt mount question

I just recently purchased a 1969 Mach 1 and it did not come with any seat belts. I purchased a used set from the internet, but upon lifting up the carpet, I could not find any mounting points for the belts.

Was there a seat belt delete option for the 1969 Mach 1's, or am I just looking in the wrong place? Any input would be appreciated.

I may be wrong on this but I think they were still optional in 69 if I remember right. My 69 boss doesnt have belts either but I havent really checked to see if the mount holes are there. I know they had the seperate lap and shoulder belts avaialable but they may also have been an option rather than a requirement

thats weird. but i have heard that before. you could probably just mount them to the fram or a reinforced section of the body, but idk what is legal and what is not for seatbelts.

AFAIK, Seat belts were NOT an option. They were mandated by federal law. What I'm really not able to answer is whether in 69 they were just lap belts, or whether they were three point belts. I have a 67 F/B and have owned 67 and 68 coupes also, and in all of them the belts are bolted throught a reinforced section of the floor pan, just behind the front seat, where the floor pan bends upward to become the transmission tunnel. You should see a hole in the floor pan at that location. that's for the adjustable buckle section of the belt. The other belt is the spring mounted unit that bolts to the inner frame rail just behind the seat, on the vertical portion of the frame rail.
Again, this is true of 67/68 models, I can't guarantee that's true on other years, but I strongly suspect that the mounting system was the same until they started supplying 3 point seat belts.
Hope that helps.
