Question D.S.O: 54 Omaha ? what is this?

Ok, I did the decoder to find out all the specs on my car,( 1966 coupe) and I'm just not sure what it all means... can some one enlighten me?
Here is the info i got from my door plate, I understand the stuff from the vin... But not this... well not all of it...

Miscellaneous Vehicle Data

Body: 65A 2 Door Hardtop, Standard Interior
( What makes it standard? for replacement I need to know)

Color: U Tahoe Turquoise Metallic
( I saw a pic in Veronica's gallery of paint colors so I know what this is, although they say poly not metallic)

Trim: 26 (vinyl top) Black Crinkle Vinyl
( Is this what the top should be? cause mine has no vinyl top)

and (seats and interior)Black Rosette Vinyl, Standard Interior
( This one is a little bit confusing to me, what I saw said all vinyl nothing about crinkle or rosette)

Date: 21M December 21, 1965
( I take this to be the actual "birthday" of my car)

D.S.O: 54 Omaha
( i have NO clue what this is)

Axle: 2 2.83:1, Conventional
(Or this)

Trans: 6 C4 Automatic
(But I get this one, LOL)

Any help would be greatly appreciated. And maybe a picture or two, of a car with the black vinyl top and the turquoise paint would be awesome! ( I googled, but couldn't find one)

TIA
Christie

Ok, lets see,

The standard interior is the basic if you want to call it that. It wasn't the upgraded trim level which was the deluxe or 'pony' interior.

It sounds like the vinyl top was removed at some point. With the car being 40 years old there's a lot of time for things to have been changed. If the car has been repainted and isn't the Turquoise color anymore it was most likely done at the time of the repaint. A previous owner may not have wanted the vinyl top anymore.

I'm not sure about the interior with this year, hopefully someone else can shed some light on that.

The date is the scheduled build date, the car may have been built on that date but it's likely that it was built within several days before or after that date depending on how production was doing.

D.S.O. is District Sales Office. This is the area of the country where the car was ordered and where it was shipped after it was built. Your car was originally sold new from a dealer located in that area.

2.83:1 this is your axle code. For each tire revolution the driveshaft spins 2.83 times. This is a good combo for highway driving/fuel economy.

Hopefully a 1969 convertible or Sportsroof (non Mach or Boss) for next Mustang project

Trying to find my father's 1973 Mustang Grande he bought brand new. 3F04F126773 last known registration and title was in New Jersey, 1982.

Hello. The 26 underneath 'trim' on the door tag is talking about the interior of the car, not a vinyl top. The only way to know if the car came with a vinyl top originally would be to have an original build sheet or window sticker. Or, if the roof of the car was all rotten, rusty and funky-looking on the front and back, above the top of the windshield and back glass, the car probably had a vinyl top. I used to know an old guy that had a Tahoe Turquoise 66 coupe with a black vinyl top and black standard interior, and it was, as you suspect, a beautiful car. That is a very nice combination. All of the vinyl used in the interiors of a 65/66 car was crinkle. They didn't have any slick-as-glass vinyl components. When you get around to buying stuff for the interior, you will see that you have two choices, standard or deluxe, A.K.A. 'pony'. There aren't like a gazillion different things to astound and confuse you. Hope that helps.

Well... where can I find or acquire a build sheet? Cause it didn't come with much other than a bill of sale and title... No window sticker on this beauty! LOL The car has been repainted. We are definitely going to repaint, but that is the last item on the list at this point.

Thanks Veronica! I know its not rocket science but it sure feels like it!
