Default Quarter Panel and Package Tray Configuation

I'm trying to figure out how the package tray and quarter panel go together on a 66 coupe with the pony interior (upholstered QP). Originally I put it on top the package tray but then wonder how one would put in the screw which secures the top lip of the QP. There was a thread a while back but the answer came from a 68 coupe. Which way is it a) QP on top package tray? or b) package tray on top QP? Seems like either could work and I honestly can't remember how it was originally (should have taken more pictures). Every picture I see in book and magazines never quite shows that area of the car.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Steve

After looking at the original package tray and the shape of the lip of the top rear of the quarter panel I think I've convinced myself that the package tray covers the QP. First, the original PT has a thin strip of painted metal trim on the outer edge and there would be no reason for this if the PT was covered by the QP. Second, the lip of the QP that overlaps is recessed downward a tiny bit, I assume so that it would fit cleanly under the PT.

Be interested to hear from others if I am correct. Thanks

Hello. The package tray does indeed go on top of the trim panel

Yes indeed! Got it together tonight and it looks perfect. I omitted the single screw at each end of the PT - it looks cleaner and the rear seat back holds everything in place just fine. It's amazing the amount of little details that one fails to notice when taking the car apart
