Default Idler arm on 1969 mustang power steer wont fit

In the process of changing the idler arm with a Drake item and the bush seems unusually tight. The old one virtually fell off and I have cleaned up the arm on the drag link with fine emery paper, greased it and do you think i can get this new arm on!! I had partial success using a g clamp to press it on but i dont want to use too much force. Should it be this tight? Doesnt appear to be any burrs on the sleeve of the new unit. Any help would be appreciated

That shouldn't be a press fit. It should slide on by hand. I'd give the vendor a call.
