Question 66 power steering control valve

hey everyone
i am the newbie to the group...i am 19, and i have a 1966 mustang coupe, with a non-integral power steering system. i have lived and breathed cars since i was 6, and my husband is still learning about old cars, and I am having a helluva time with this system. i had this massive power steering leak, and we figured out that it was my control valve that was bad. now i need to know if its just the box on the end of the control valve, or if its the whole assembly from the pitman to the idler arms...can anyone help me or direct me to where i can get help please? this is becoming very frustrating. 10 Century Gothic Dark-Blue MrsMightyQuin@aol.com

Faith, if it is a V8, it is the centerlink, if it is a 6, it unscrews from the centerlink. Many Mustang shops sell them rebuilt with a core charge.
When I was working in a Stang shop, they ran $159.95 with a $250.00 core charge(V8)

the centerlink has the idler arm, pitman arm and the tie rod ends attach to them./ DO NOT USE A PICKEFORK TO GET THE PITMAN ARM OFF!!!

you can use a pickle fork to get the tierods, the idler arm siles of, but if you use a pitman arm to remove the pitman arm, it will crush the valve. I hit the pitman arm on both sides to vibrate it off, do not hit the valve
