Default 1966 Clutch Release Lever Spring Location

I have a 1966 Coupe, 289, 3 speed manual transmission. While replacing the clutch pedal rod seal, I removed the all the linkage bolts and clips that keep the rod connected to the clutch pedal inside the car to the clutch equalizer bar. Once I released this tension, of course, the Equalizer bar adjuster lost tension from the clutch release lever. This happened because the release lever rod spring, I believe, was not hooked up correctly. The release lever spring also fell to the ground, leaving me wondering now exactly it hooks back up. The spring is about 14 inches long or so.

I looked all over the forums, have the shop manual, and none of them show where this connects EXACTLY, under the car, both sides. I know one end certainly goes over the slot on the clutch release lever, but the other end, I am baffled. I have tried one likely looking spot toward the front of the car, but it seems to fall off that area once I depress the clutch a couple of times, luckily, I have not lost the spring, yet.

Does anyone know the exact positioning of this spring? Is it supposed to run from the clutch release lever toward the back of the car, or to the front? Does the spring end go on the clutch release lever or does the other end of the spring go on the clutch release lever?

Description would be a good help, a pic would be a tremendous help, showing both sides where it connects to.

Thanks for the assistance, have learned a lot in a few months here, appreciate all the knowledge that is shared here, has helped me several times all ready, first time poster.

The spring end goes to a bracket behind the release lever toward the rear of the car. The other end goes to the lever just under the rod that goes through the firewall.

I tried what the suggestion was, you know, I am still baffled. The spring is actually 17" long. Here is a pic I found on the internet, it is the question I am asking. Is this spring actually on right? And, if so where is the spring end hooking to? To me, it looks like it is connecting from the clutch release lever and travelling forward towards the front of the car. The length of the spring just shoots way past the lever that has the hole in it right below the firewall rod.

Though, I can say the spring in the picture looks a tad different than what I have, the one I have has about 14" of a straight section and the last 3" are a spring. Possible that it totally isn't the right one??

Default Update and Spring Location-Pics

I was able to finally figure out how this spring goes on. Here are two pictures for the archives, in case anyone has the same problem I had figuring it out in the future. The first pic, the "long end" goes into a small hole in the frame(hard to find, obviously) a bit in front of the front drivers side wheel area.

The other side of the spring, the spring end, clips around the clutch release lever, as shown.
