By 'not cold', do you mean the air is cool or blowing hot like you don't even have a/c? If you're blowing cool air but not cold air, chances are your system is low on charge. You will need to add refrig to it. However, it also indicates you have a slow leak (another possibility, though not as likely, is your compressor valves are worn out) and it should be addressed. I know there is leak detector available, but once you find the leak you will have to discharge the system to fix it, get it vacuumed down, and do a complete recharge. It will cost a lot more, but it will keep it from leaking. On the other hand, get a couple cans of Freeze12 (r12 substitute that is legal and much cheaper) and just top it off. If you have an r12 system that works, I see NO reason to convert to r134, especially if you have your orig. style compressor. It runs at higher head pressures and just isn't as cold. Michael
