Default Is this camshaft able to be swapped into a 302 without interferance.

i have a 1968 302 that i am building and was wondering if anyone know what the biggest lift cam i can use with flat top pistons. i am looking at getting the edelbrock 7122 cam and lifter set, the cam has a .496/.520 int/exh lift specs. just wondering if this would be to dramatic for my application. thanks for your input.

Is your motor a 4bbl? If so then the cam will perform pretty well. You didn't mention duration specs however your lift should be fine. You should check your valve springs also to make sure they're compatible with the cam. The last thing you want is to drop a valve.

the duration is 290/300. and i had my valves checked and they were good, stock but good. do you think that this dramatic of a cam would cause valve float with stock springs??? thanks a lot for you help. and i am going to be running a 4bbl, 650cfm.

You need to contact Edelbrock's tech people on the valve clearance and valve springs. I'm thinking that you're going to need springs to match the camshaft. I wouldn't chance anything without some advice from them. Any mistakes could be very costly.

Also talk to the Edelbrock tech about the duration, overlap and lobe separation. If you are running stock heads, it is easy to buy to much cam and end up with poor performance.

Anytime you replace cam and lifters, new matching valve springs should be used.
