Default 1965 Headers

Hi, I have a 1965 Mustang with a 3-speed manual trans. I am installing a 1987 5.0. Are there headers that I can use that require no modifications?
Thank you
Wayne

Hello. I had long tube headers on my 289. Put same headers on a 5.0 (1993 engine, should make no difference), and it bolted right up and dropped in the engine bay, no sweat.

A 289 I believe has all the same important dimensions as any 5.0, so any header designed to fit a 289 or 302 will fit on a 5.0 motor. But Hedmans are pretty cheap, and I plan on buying a set.

I have a set of hooker super comp headers but they are a bit to long. I drag them occasionally when I go over bumps. but they do sound great and fit well, and give excellent performance. whichever you buy I suggest you have them jet-hot coated. makes them last a long time and look great.

I have Tri Y headers on my 289 (same block as 302) the fit is great. The engine with them on dropped right into the engine bay. Add flowmaster muffers and it sounds soooo goood....
