Default 1965 Mustang Fender emblem removal.

How can I remove the current fender emblems on my 1965 mustang without marring the paint or removing the fenders?

I wrap tape (electrical or duct) around the end of a table knife.

on my 66 all i did was take the front tire off and if you look to the left towards the emblems, you'll see that the "mudflap" is bolted on blocking you from doing it from the inside. It's like 4 or 5 bolts with one of the bolts being on top near the hood hinges on each side but it comes right out and you should be able to knock them out from the inside. Once you put the new ones in, just rebolt the flap back in place and put the tires back on.

I just did my fender emblems ( running horse ) and changed the barrel nuts on the F O R D letters on the hood, the letters were loose. I wrapped electrical tape on the smallest flat screw driver i have. I put an old white sheet on the floor and under the hood, because of course i dropped the tiny barrel nuts a few times. Much easier to find them. VERY carefully place the screw driver under a corner of the the emblem where the old pins are, and lift a little bit at a time. Then move to the next old pin. Before you try and reinstall the new barrel nuts make sure your old ones are completely out.(you may not need to take the old ones out ) Good time to wax the area before installation.
