I have a 1964 Mustang with a 351W motor. Before I put the car away for the winter last year, it started to hesitate upon acceleration and backfire every so often through the carb. The carb is a Holley 750. Motor has 15k miles on it and has been perfect until this! I garaged the car for the winter and took it out this year and it's doing the same thing. HELP! I've had it parked all season. I have replaced all of the fuel filters and this did not help. The fuel pump is a Holley racing pump so I heard these don't die at all! What else can it be?

When I try to rev the motor, it hesitates as if there is a delay. When the car is off and I push the gas, I get a steady stream of fuel in the carb so I don't think it's accelerator pump.

PLEASE HELP. I WANT MY CAR BACK!

Thanks.

Without knowing your setup, I would check the vacuum advance on the distributor. Make sure the vacuum line to carb from dizzy is ok. Next with a timing light check timing or remove vac line at carb and with distributor cap off suck on the vac line and see if the plate in the dizzy moves.
