will a 9 inch rear end from a 66 Bird fit into my 8 inch rear end 66 mustang without problems?

Just guessing but its probably way too wide.Does the thunderbird have leaf springs?Been me id just build up your 8 inch.

keep the 8, put the money on something else. I put a 9 in with disc brakes and it cost lots of cash. Plus I added about a hundred pounds. I weighed both cars, used the same set up (engine/tranny) with the 8 and the car weighs less also less cash on parts.

A 8 inch can be built up pretty good and you can get rear disc for them too.i wouldn't use a 9 inch unless i had a big block or a high power engine.
