HeyGuys,

I hadn't heard the delamination theory before but i guess it makes sence, i will avoid that method in future.

An update:We once again removed the MC and bled it on the bench again, re-bled the whole system back to front etc. We also removed a litttle more play from the rears. as you can see the master is still leaking but not as bad. I also discovered that a rubber stopper was missing from the pedal assembly (see picture), this eliminated the excessive height / pedal travel.

As for the measurement from the booster rod to the master; this measured up fine so i am back to scratching my head.

If I lift the cap off the MC and have my son push the brakes the is a fountain from the smaller resevoir. My question; is my "new MC" broken?

Sounds like you have pretty much covered the field. There could a posibility of a fault or a mismatch with the master cyl. Seeing you got the gear from SM&F, tell Wayne where you are at & see what he says. He might send you another cyl to try. Failing that you may have to consult one of the brake specialists. There should be plenty of them in your area. My nearest one is 300k's

Hey Rocky,

Yeah 300ks is a long way to drive with dodgy brakes.

I am thinking that it might be faulty in the car because there is no presure on the bench, as soon as it gets some it cant force it down so it presurises the MC.

Interestinfgto see if the greek has any other thoughts.

Hi Rocky,

It has been a test alright.

Wayne is sending another new MC for me to swap over so I guess once again I will report back (fingers crossed).

Thanks for all the help, it would have been harder without you guys.

Regards
Steve

Update:

We got the new MC in during the week, and thank goodness the leak has finally stopped (fingers crossed).

I was getting a bit of seepage initially so i changed the clasp to the one we bent to add some extra presure on the lid.

It is possible that i let a bit of air back into th system when bleeding the whole thing out again so i think i am going to do a presure bleed at the local brake specialist at some point.

The good news is that I am off for a drive on what is looking like a beautiful early summers day here in paradise.

Thanks for all the help on this one, i have some instructions on bench bleeding that i will post on this thread that may be helpful for others.

Good to hear you are finally getting it sorted.

Had a fella staying down here for the winter from Whangamata. He was trying to talk me into comming up to the next Beach Hop. Have you been to one of those? Sounds like a fairly major event for little old NZ.

Hey Rocky,

I havn't been to one yet, the car might just be ready this time, i have heard it is great. If you can get there from Wanaka then i should be able to make it from AK.

Steve, this has been quite an interesting thread, to say the least. I wish you well and hope that the problem is finally remedied. Lucky you, Summer is finally there. Here in Northern Florida, the temps have been running below normal for the most part. I hate it.

If your rubber gasket isn't seting over the master cylinder it is going to leak. Replace your cover or just the gasket for less than $10 and replace the hold down handle if needed. The master cylinder should of came with a bench bleed kit. Just remove the master cylinder from the car. Screw the big red bleeder valve into the big port and the smaller one into the small port. Connect the two supplied hoses and clamp them into the inside of the master cylinder. Mount it in a vice, take a good long screw driver and press in the piston until no more air bubbles come out. Once done remount it and bleed your brakes to get the air out of the lines. Remember to keep an eye on your fluid level while doing this. Plus not bench bleeding the master cylinder don't make it leak. Just a soft pedal and no to little to no brakes.
