Question turn signal cam instalation on a 1967 mustang?

hi,
over the weeekend i decided to replace my turn signal cam on my 1967 mustang, i got the part and the instructions and was on my way. i followed the directions but when taking the retainer clip off the old cam i scratched up the post that the new clip goes on. i put the new cam on and spliced the wires together, and could not get the retainer clip to slip on the post and the signals didnt work anyways and i have now lost my brake lights aswell. i checked the fuses and 3 of them dont seem to be getting any power. is this related? if so i have 2 questions, 1 how do i get the retainer clip on a scratched up post and 2 how do i go about getting power to the fuses? any ideas would be great! thanks in advance,
lauren

Did you replace the whole turn signal switch? Why did you slpice wires? I would check the fuse in the fuse box. I replaced the whole switch as a unit from Mr. Mustang. went in like a champ.

I'm not quite sure exactly what the problem is. Are you having an issue at the wiring harness end or at the switch itself end?

Pictures would help here :-)

Make sure all your wires are in the right spots. I just did this a couple months ago on my 67 and still have a pic of where what wires go in the harness, although I did not cut and splice wires, I just pulled the old ones out of the plastic clip and put the new ones in there.
