Default 1971 mustang front suspension

Hi all can anybody tell me what rattles when I drive down a ruff road? I don't think its ball joints. I have changed the uppers and the lowers are tight. upper control arm bushings? thanks all. Stephen in Georgia

Could be sway bar end links. If the rubber bushings are rotted, they will compress enough to bounce around. Make sure that everything is tight and torqued down properly. But yes, your upper arm bushings may be worn a bit and rattle inside their casing. I never liked its design ever since I rebuilt my upper arms, but it's something you've got to deal with, unless you have the money to get a set of tubular arms.

What about the piece of rubber on top of the coils or the spring perchs tie rod ends etc etc check every joint in the steering.

Yeah anything you have no replaced check and lube if you can.Just remember its a old car who knows when the last time anything was done to it.Do you have disc brakes if so check to see if your dust shields are loose or look for any wear marks anywhere.
