Exclamation Clutch Engaging Problems

Hey,

I recently bought a 67 289 hardtop mustang that had been converted to a 5 speed using a T5 transmission out of an 88 mustang. When the car ran the one time i drove it 1st gear did not engage immediately and i had to keep pushing it in until it caught, other than that it ran fine. a slight problem but nothing i was too concerned about. Then right as i was getting ready to take it to get my state inspection done, it won't start and the clutch pedal goes all the way to the floor with a little push and doesnt come back up without some pulling.

The previous owner used a hand madeclutch cable pedal mount assembly instead of purchasing a new one during the conversion and the clutch cable is hanging next to the parking break. THis is my first car and to be honest i don't have a whole lot of knowledge about the workings of any car, but idealy id like to fix this myself. So my question is, why wont the clutch come up!? Any advice is greatly appreciated

Well I don't know your expertise, so don't be offended if I get too simplistic. I would first check to see if the cable has broken. Check- Grab one end and pull. Comes right out? Broken( or one end has come loose). If it stops? It's OK. Next check your areas where it attaches to. It may have fallen out of a bracket. Make sure to check both ends you may find something else that needs attention. Good Luck
