Default gt 40 head install

i just got a set of gt40 heads and wanted to know if i could just bolt these right on or not, my engine is a 1970 302, i was told my motor as of now with the stock heads are 58cc, i have no clue what cc the gt40 heads are, do i need to have them milled, they are the normal gt40 not the p-heads, can i use my stock push rods, i am hoping they will just bolt on with out having to dump a bunch of money in the swap, one more did i get ripped off i paid $200.00 for them ,thanks guys michigan weather sucks, high of 30* today.

well from what i know the pushrods you will need are going to be 6.905 summit sells them. and the head bolts on most of the gt40 heads were 1/2 inch and yours should be 7/16 so you will either need bolts with a bigger shoulder or bushings to take up the extra space.other than that check your head gaskets for passages to line up there maybe a steam port or so that wont line up some people drill it to match some dont and have no problems take your pick.i really cant remember to much more this moment if anything else comes to mind i ll get back hope it helps a little bit

You didn't get ripped off. These heads flow nicely for $200. The rockers are the newer style pedistal mount which first started being used around 1978. They use the stamped steel rockers and are held down with a 5/16" bolt instead of using a stud and nut. The 6.905" pushrods that yellowtonka2 recommends should be what you need.

The combustion chambers are around 65cc and give about a 9:1 comp ratio with stock pistons. A stock style head gasket for your year engine should fit with no problems, but as always, check them before installing. I've got a set of these heads and I had to plug the thermactor ports in the back of the heads with 5/8"-11 straight thread set screws. Don't use pipe plugs they have a tapered thread.
