Default 1966 brake master cylinder

Just wondering if anybody has ever had any problems putting a rebuild kit in a brake master cylinder. Just wondering didnt know. I have one leaking on the back side. Either buy a remanfactured or rebuild kit. Which one would yall do?

I suggest to get a reman, quicker and better than rebuilding.

Hello. Unless you are putting together a 'trailer queen', and that is the original, all correct numbers master cylinder, I would just replace it. As Heavymetal, said, it is quicker, easier, and, in the long run, cheaper. Personally, I always get a brand new one, not remanufactured, but I'm funny that way when it comes to brakes.

Now would be a great time to upgrade to a dual master cylinder. I upgraded mine a few years ago, it's really easy to do the swap, after I had a rear brake line fail and I lost all my brakes.

Thank you Ford for the e-brake.

If you choose to upgrade to a dual bowl, avoid the remanufactured MC and buy new. My remanufactured dual bowl (I bought the upgrade kit from CJ Pony) started leaking just a few months after I installed it. I then bought a new Bendix MC and have had no trouble since.
