Default Engine question

I have a 67 coup that currently has a 302. I have available to me a 429 that came out of a 71' lincoln. Will it fit? How hard will it be to fit? I would like to hear from someone who has already done this, and they can give me some tips.

I just wonder it the front end of that car will support that big engine without a lot of modification.

67's were built with 428CJ so I think the car can handle the load .............. not sure tho if the physical size of the 429 is wider than a 428....... I have also seen mods with 427's ............. you will have to beef up suspension , transmission , rear end

The suspension/drivetrain will have to be redone. 6 banger has smaller front end parts and is also 4-lug. I changed mine over to a 302 and it's not diffucult. The engine will fit just fine but I do not know what the difference is between the racing boss and a standard 302. If it's just the heads, you might have a slight fit problem at the shock towers but I am not sure.

well i have a 427 side oiler in my garage and a 460 in my truck they look really close in size basically identical and i just removed a 390 from my fastback same block as the 427 they are very tight with headers in between th eshock towers but you need the big block rug m1 4 speed or something close, the big block bell clutch z bar , flywheel-or flexplate for auto, mounts ,larger radiator, among a few other odds and ends including a boat load of patients oh ya and the big block springs and get a set of frame ties to help take the extra power and flex

Question Help with my 1965 mustang motor

Hey all there is a gal in the house. I recently posted another thread and someone referred me to the classics. I was needing some help on determining what block that I had. I have a 289 but I am not sure about the stamping. I am familiar with the C4, C5 and C8 but I have a C3AE-6015N Can anyone help me out? Thanks

Here's how you number breaks down:

C3AE-6015N

C - 1960's
3 - 1963
A - Full Size Ford
E - Engine Group

6015 - Part Number for Engine Block

N - Version Number

67 stang,

Another thing the '67 and later Mustangs had, was reinforced shock towers to handle the torque of the big block engine.

It's not just a matter of dropping it in. I like small blocks better, because of less weight and there is more room to work on/around them.

You can get a lot of HP out of a small block, but you want to make sure your car can handle it.

Another newby here. What would be some peoples opinion on a 460 in a 1973 coupe? I currently have a non operational 302CID. It's been sitting for 15 years though and I have access to a 460 w/ a C6 for $200.00 . Sorry not meaning to steal the thread but thought it was kind of in the same thought frame.
