Did ford paint the 1965 GT fastback motor black or were they all blue?

I believe that they were all black with chrome valve covers and air cleaner. As I recall the 66 model year was the first year for the corporate blue.

Hello. The 65s where black intake, engine block, heads and snorkel, with gold valve covers and breather. The chrome stuff was the engine dress-up kit that could be ordered or purchased over the counter from you local Ford dealership, but wasn't a part of the GT package per se, although many of them did have the dress up kit. Hope that helps.
