Default Help!! 66 289 head interchange question

Hello folks, my 66 C-code Mustang, 289 2V had C6AE heads on it. I just picked up another set I had redone at a machine shop and only then did I realize they are C6OE heads. They look the same but the originals, "C6AE" have round push rod holes, while the ones I dumped the $$$ in, "C6OE" have a thinner rectangular shaped push rod hole.
Can anyone tell me if these a still a direct fit, or am I screwed.

I think the ones with the smaller rectangular pushrod holes are for the non-rail type rockers. Not sure if the pushrods required are any different.

Thanks Mike, I'll keep monitoring for any more input. I hate to put them on and find out the hard way.
Tom.

That's the only difference I see is the rail guided push-rods on the round holes. You will need to use hardened pushrods.

Besides the hardened pushrods, you won't want to use the rail rockers either. The rails will contact the valve spring retainers if the taller stemmed valves, used with rail rockers, are not being used. The correct valves for these heads are shorter from the lock grooves to the tips. If the rails contact the retainers, you can drop a valve.
