Default Any tricks to PROPERLY seating a rear deck lid?

I have been trying for a while to get rid of cab fumes. I believe its coming from the pipes coming out of the rear cowl, and being sucked up through the trunk. I have been playing with trying to get the deck lid to sit correctly, but its not helping. I dont think the lid is sitting correct to seal the trunk perfectly.

Any ideas?

Make sure your exhaust don't have any leaks in it also your floor pan if the seam sealer is as old as the car it can leak some. You can put some grease or lip stick on the trunk gasket shut the trunk and see where the gasket is not touching or not a even mark.

Default Is the gasket new?

Wes,
Did you already replace the rubber gasket on the trunk lid?
If not, that is probably the culprit.
You probably right about the fumes coming in through the trunk lid.

If replacing the weatherstripping don't work. Try removing everything out of the trunk, remove the drain plugs, rechaulk all of the seam. Let dry and then spray the whole floor with rubberized undercoating. Let dry and put everything back together. I had to do that too a couple of cars.

If the exhaust tips are under the rear valance and out of view, install tips that point down. This will place the exhaust fumes into the air stream and it may help.

Make sure your gas tank is sealed. Often tanks are replaced and they fail to put strip calking down first before installing it.

How far out do you exhaust tips extend from the rear valance? They should stick out at least 2 inches

Check your gas cap base also and make sure it is sealed from the outside.

I would not "Rhino Liner" the trunk. You should be able to seal it properly without making it a mess with that stuff.
