No problem, remove #1 spark plug, have a friend help turn the engine by HAND clock wise, place thumb over plug hole, as engine comes to top dead center on the compression stroke you will feel pressure pushing your thumb off .. "Stop" next insert a rod 6-8 inches long ( a coat hanger will do ) into # one plug hole. BY HAND turn the engine over holding the rod you will feel it rise slowly and seem to level off then start to drop "stop" back the engine up till the rod is at top.
This is top dead center for # 1 , did you find the pointer for the balancer ?? if so make a white chalk line or touch up paint "wont wash off" on the balancer at the pointer, if no pointer is on the timiming cover mark the balancer and a line straight across on the timing cover. Reinstall spark plug, fire engine up, see how close the marks line up, set the knob on the timing light to what you want the timing to be say 14* now turn dist untill lines match up timing is now set. Very easy for the average Mechanic or to the best. Let me know how it turns out.
