Default Need some help deciphering my Partial VIN...

I'm trying to read the partial VIN in the pics below. Best I can tell it seems to read "9F1 45 6."

What I'm calling 9 and 6 are both pretty rough. What do you think.

It looks that way to me. Ford did start doing partial and full VINs on cars starting in 68 on the motors. Only K codes were done before that. My San Jose 68 has it's full VIN stamped on the motor and it matches my VIN so I know the 289 in my car is original to it.

Depending on plant and who stamped it it may read two ways that I can see by looking at it,

9 - last digit of model year (1969)
F - assembly plant (Dearborn)
1 - body code, short for "01" coupe
456 - last 3 digits of VIN

or it could be,

9 - last digit of model year
F - assembly plant
1x45x6 - sequential VIN number but for some reason the 2nd and 5th digits (x) didn't get stamped into the block.

Hopefully a 1969 convertible or Sportsroof (non Mach or Boss) for next Mustang project

Trying to find my father's 1973 Mustang Grande he bought brand new. 3F04F126773 last known registration and title was in New Jersey, 1982.

Hello. I think that I would go with that 69 Dearborn with a sequential number of 1X45X6 because of the way it's spaced .

That looks to be accurate Veronica. Thanks both of you! That means that the engine is original.

I've also determined that the transmission is from a '69 Ford...trying to determine if it's original. And I have the differential tag which seems to coincide with it being original also (from everything I've deciphered)...still trying to determine what all of it means

Thanks again!
