Question 351w to a 377 stroker

been away from this forum for a awhile, but back to ask a question to the many Ford owners out there. anyone have any experience in taking there stock block, non-roller 1993 and crankshaft and offset grinding it to a 377 stroker .30 over ;plan on using stock heads a mild cam with victor jr and 650 cfm manual choke carb all to be polished and ported. i wish to keep the engine on pump gas. i have heard that it would be a high rev motor. and what kind of torque/hp you think i may end up with. just wittling out some variables on a promising build. hope to keep it a budget build, thanks Leo

That's a pretty bad choice of parts. A 351W is just about all that ported stock heads can feed, and a Vic JR intake goes with *none* of the rest of those parts. Plus, a 377 would be more $$ than it's worth after you pay for all the crank work, then figure out what rods and pistons you'd need for 377ci.

I'd build a 351W with ported stock heads, PerformerRPM intake, 650 carb, and at LEAST 10:1. Then, look and see if your block is marked F4TE, if it is, I'd put in a hydraulic roller cam, probably a TFS #2. That would be just about as cheap as you could get away with for a decent amount of HP and still put out 400hp+

Cool

the preformer was my first choice and a holley carb i was looking for hood clearance and i was told the vic would work, the machining cost will offset the costs of buying a crank that is probably made in china. the motor i hear will push alot of high revs, if it is done correctly the motor will out-last a 408 which is about as big of a stroke i would do with a 93 block, and adding a roller that really blows the budget + added machining to the blocktoo many stroker kits out there to compare but keeping everything under the hood a more OEM block, you take your China stuff and pray they last.<kind of looks like one laughing to the bank after you paid
high dollar for a rotating assembly that was built oversees with our technology and built with cheap child labor...

I'm sure most of us agree that most of the Chinese stuff is overall bad, but...

Eagle has been making cranks and rods for years, people love them, and they are made in China.

If you buy a Pro-Comp intake and do the port matching yourself, you can save a lot of money and make great power.

Just something for you to consider...

Thumbs up well i did it

been out of work off and on all year but i sent my block/crank to Lens Crankshaft in St. Louis Mo. making my engine a 377w

the machine work was a little more but tired of looking at an empty block
it wiil take 6.2 chevy rods and a 3.640 stroke got the pistons they are KB-254 with scat i beam rods, the stock heads will be gasket matched at the exhaust for now and will be made to adjustable rockers. went for up-grades on rings and bearingshope with the 4nto4" headers she should sound nice, now to work on the top-side for parts, hell i think i will be into this engine with about 3500 and thats a short block without the cam. any carb ideas from anyone. planned on a 650 holley but big brother is got a 600 edlebrock it doesn't work well on his early bronco when he is off-road.

sounds like a good combo. depending on what you intend to do with it, a 600 or 650 mat be a little small. stick or auto? cam? intake?

manual tko-600 i did the math and at 6000 rpm i ended up w/654cfm and 5500 w/close to 600cfm
intake maybe the preformer i will see once i put the short block together. got to send it back after i check rotation for clearance
then Dan will deck the block hopefully a small amt and balance the whole rotating assembly been waiting for my flywheel from ford racing they are not shipping till Nov 1. but boxes of parts are arriving as we speakhope its not taboo but the engine is going in my F5R cobra i am building, but a mustang man thru and thru.
