Hello. That's the 9 inch rear end out of a 69 model 351 2bbl car with a 3.00:1 gear ratio. That 8k8 thing almost certainly says 8kB, which would be the second week of october in 68. Hope that helps.

Thank you so much!!!
Is there anyway to tell the size of the axle spline?
For example, a 28 spline or a 31 spline.
Thank you

Hi again. While there isn't really any way to say from a distance what is physically present now in a 40 year old assembly, it would really surprise me if it was not 28 spline. You could pull one out and count them.

you don't need to buy a slide hammer to get it out. especially if the axle is bolted in your car not just loose in a salvage yard. assuming you have removed the brake drum and removed the 4 self locking nuts, all you have to do is turn the brake drum around backwards, put two of the lug nuts on loosely and just use the brake drum like a slide hammer to whack it out. seriously they usually are not in that firmly and a couple whacks like that it will come right out.

but to echo veronica it is almost certainly a 28 spline. unless a previous owner has changed it out.

here is a nice website I found for decoding rear end tags. http://www.fordification.com/rearends-ford06.htm
