Default What is the value of a '70 302 engine and C4 transmission?

The restoration of our '70 Mustang coupe will not include the original 302 engine and C4 transmission. The 302 engine was rebuilt several years ago by the original owner; however it was never put in the car. The C4 transmission was operating fine when it was removed from the car by the previous owner.

What would be a reasonable price to ask for both?

Our Mustang will have a new 351 Street Boss engine with a 5-speed, so there is no need to keep the other engine and tranny.

I would guess about $300-400 to the right person. There are a few people out there restoring cars and looking for the correct drivetrain for thier cars or even an engine dated near the build date of thier car.

I did look on Ebay and saw some 302 engines going for a few hundred dollars. I am thinking about $300 to $400 for the engine and my son put the tranny on Craig's List for $200. We already received a call on the C4 transmission from one interest person.

Thanks!
