Default 1968 Ford f100 disc brakes on a 1968 mustang?

Could you put 1968 ford f100 disc brake spindles and disc brakes on a 1968 mustang? I have the oppourtunity to buy a 1968 ford f100 with a built 302 and c4 and power disc brakes ect. ect. Im gonna swap my engine and tranny with that engine and tranny in the truck and i was wondering if i could swap my brakes too.

like how many other components dont match? everything in that truck is pretty much brand new so i really dont want 2 pass up on a good oppourtunity. How much different are the spindles themselves? i know that ford used the same parts on many different cars and trucks back then.

They are light years different. In other words no-way. The truck uses a split I-beam suspension, whereas the Mustang uses a double A-arm type. The rotors and brakes won't fit either as the truck spindle axle is larger. One more thing to note is: If the truck is a long bed (8ft), there's a pretty good chance it's got a carrier bearing in it on the drive shaft. This will use a C-4 with a yoke that's attached to the trans with a big nut, not the sliding yoke the Mustang requires. Why don't you find an old Granada and use those spindles and parts?

the truck is a shortbed so i dont have to worry about the carrier bearing on the driveshaft. the reason i wanted to use these brakes is because im getting the whole truck for dirt cheap and it come with a ton of new parts including a new power disc brake kit. but i may have to find a granada.

The spindle will not fit on your car trust us your friend is a idiot. The spindles are totally different and the truck uses a bigger lug pattern. It would be easier to put a gm spindle on then that truck one.

I'm going to say "yes" you can do it if you want to. I wouldn't suggest it but anything is possible. It will take some major surgery and you will have a totally different suspension up front when you're done. That would be a lot of work just to put some disc brakes on when you can easily find some that will just bolt on. I would say this mod would be like taking a Dodge Viper and adding school bus front suspension just for the disc brakes.
