"Only in 67 is the disc and drum spindle are the same.Rest of the years they are different."
Actually '65-'67 V8 spindles are all the same and I've even found some early '68's to use the 4 pistons but that's when they changed to a different mounting and single puck pistons. I think the '68 drum spindles are the same as '65-'68 also.
The difference between PB/Non is convenience, the booster does most of the leg work for you. I would not let my wife drive my car nonpwr, probably whether disc or drum just because of the huge difference in pedal feel from her DD and any car sold in the last 30+yrs.
You could convert to disc manual brakes now and if you don't like it you'd need to change the MC and then add the PB booster, pedal box and pedal. You should be able to resuse your original pedal box, I just noticed that mine already has the hole where the PB pedal would attached in it (higher up). If that's the case you'd just need MC/booster/PB pedal and you could convert to PB.
I thought of doing this as the only additional cost (other than time) would be getting a different MC, in the end I decided to do it all at once as I want to be done when I button it up.
