Default 1964 1/2 interior color

Was the white interior color for a 1964 1/2 the same as in 1965 or are they different? I'm trying to repaint my dash for my 1964 1/2 (19 June 64), and the white color touch up paint for NPD says "excluding 1964"...meaning the interior white was different from '65-'66.

Also, what's the correct white color when painting a floor console...is it the same as the interior white for the model year or is it a standard white?

Thank you!

Yes the 1964 white is different.
It was a whiter white ,.,not wimbledon white as in later years.

NAPA has the correct white

Default 1964 1/2 floor console paint color

Did the color for the floor console in early mustangs (mine's 19 June 64) match the color of the interior vinyl (standard interior vinyl in this case, in white) or some other color? My car is Poppy red (paint code 3) with white interior and black appointments: VIN 5F08F171062, 76A 3 46 19F 34 1 6.

Was the standard white interior color (vinyl) the same as in 1965?

Was the floor console painted to match this color white?

Was the dash color the same white as well...the reply to my posting yesterday said that the color for '64 was whiter than the white in '65, but what does that apply to? Just talking interior colors here, not exterior color codes like M (Wimbledon white).

Note: the car's interior was changed over to '65 deluxe interior by the previous owner, so it's a bit of mix-match currently (had the car two months now).

Thank you.

My console is red to match the carpet.

Very cool chart!

If I read it correctly, my interior color (Group 1, white, 5767) covers items like the instrument panel, steering wheel, and of course, the floor console, yet my appointments color (Group 2, black, 4464) covers items like the crash pad, door panel, and arm rest pad?.

Does this mean I should have white for the metal door surface yet black for the actual vinyl door panel and arm rest (standard interior)?

Sorry, just when I thought I had it straight...floor panel in Group 1 to match interior color, I got confused by the items covers in Group 2, the appointments color. Can you please clarify?

Thanks.

That's what it says.

Would you like some "Ford" soft trim info beside what you see above ?

I'll need the body codes from your warranty plate

I haven't seen any pictures of a 1964 1/2 or '65 with standard interior that had one color for the metal surface of the door and yet a contrasting color for the actual door panel...just thumbed through all my reference books that have pictures.

I have the book with the chart in it you referenced (How to restore your mustang), but I'm not getting what Group 1 and Group 2 refer to.

Here are my door tag codes:76A 3 46 19F 34 1 6

I thought it would be 46.

But according to FORD 76A being a convertible .. 46 is white with BLUE appointments ..Not black ..

This contradicts the HTRAM book.

swatch code is 68 ..which is white for doors, quarters, seat cushion and bolster. But this code applies to 1965 and not a a pre-fall 1964 1/2.

Looking on that upholstery swatch page you will see the # 2 beside 42,45,46,49
that Number 2 represents a build after March 1965

A number 1 would be for a pre-fall 64 car

This image below I couldn't get it in the previous post soon enough.

I suspect this is a misprint in the Ford Book as Blue has been mentioned as code 42

I saw a similar table in one of my books, I think it was "Mustang 1964 1/2 - 73 Restoration Guide: restoration guide by Tom Corcoran, Earl Davis". In this chart, the entry seen for code 42 was also repeated for code 46 for the 76A body style, so I've always thought this was a typo...and this table looked to be a copy of what you've shown, so it would repeat the error. What is the book/document source you got your table from?

So, if it is a typo, them I'm supposed to have white door panels not black, correct?

I have 2 sources.

One is the paper version of the final version from 1973
and the other is the CDRom version of the final version scanned and created in 1980.

I suspect these other versions get their info from this same source
