Welcome to the site. Check for rust, take a magnet and go around the body of the car to see how much bondo is on it. Check all the fluid levels. And take it to a mechanic to get checked.

I had a 67 (which is very similar). Be sure to check the cowl vents for rust. Mine were so badly rusted, the local body shop quoted my around $4,000.00 to cut the rust out and weld in new cowls. It was an expensive proposition which I did not undertake at the time. I eventually gave up the car because of the rust. So be AWARE of the rust as nigel mentioned.

Check the boxed, frame portions for rot. The portions where the rear springs mount is a place to look. Another is the frame portions just under the floorboards in the front. Check the area under the battery all of the way down to the frame, too.

Look for cracks in the shock towers and the areas where the steering box mounts and on the opposite side where the idler arm mounts.

If the car turns out to be a rust bucket, don't get involved unless you're set up to do the repairs yourself or you have deep pockets. Good luck.

Yeah rust is bad the cowl vent sometimes you need to pour water in it if it comes out in the floor run away from the car.Take a magnet off your fridge and randomly stick it on the body around the wheel openings and the lower edge of the body.If the magnet don't stick then there is heavy filler hiding something you don't want which is rust or shotty repair.i would even take my nuckle and knock on the frame rails down it listening for the sound to change. There is 4 frame rails and they are good at rusting from the inside out.
