Default Restoring Ideas? Need Help

Hello,
My name is John and I have been looking at some 1965 mustangs . Well basically I want to do a full restore to fit my needs. Lets start off. I want something with alot of horse power but friendly with the mpgs because I am going to use this as a daily driver. I was think getting a 5.0 engine from earlier mustangs and installing a pretty good supercharger with a 5 or 6 speed tranny and slap a aem plug & play to help with the mpgs and use the engine when I want to go fast or use to cruise down the street. Please help guys and give me advise . I am fairly new. It well be nice to get 350+ hp or maybe even 430 . Thanks all and god bless

Hello. The problem that you will encounter will be that these aren't the most rigid cars ever built. There will be a lot more involved than merely dropping a gorilla of a motor into the car. That motor will tie the car in a knot unless you also add all sorts of stuff in the way of sub-frame connectors, traction bars, etc... Having horsepower doesn't mean a whole lot if the car just sits there and hops. . I went through that little song and dance routine about 15 years ago when I shoe-horned a 427 SOHC motor into a 67 coupe. It took a bunch of modification of the engine bay to get it to fit in there, and it took a bunch of bracing and reinforcement to get the car to just launch instead of hop or go sideways on me. It was a hoot to drive, though, until my husband made me sell it. Oh well. It was probably a good idea to get rid of it. It was a deathtrap.

Your 110% right. I don't really car what I need to add to make the engine fit, I just want something that goes really fast with about 20 mpg , What do you recommend? And sorry about your mustang but hey at least you didn't get killed ! I just cant wait to get my car! The funnest part is just restoring it and fell satisfied with myself.
