Default To rebulid or buy new Carb

65 coupe with a 66 289. The carb is leaking around the front, possibly the accellerator pump.
Should I look into a rebuilt or a new carb.
Have never rebuilt a carb so not to sure about the DIY route on that one.
2 barrel carb btw.

Any leads or sites always appreciated.

Default Do it

The rebuild kit is like $15 and it is easy so I say go for it... if it does not work you are out $15...so what.....

Just follow the directions...piece of cake

I am in the same situation as you, but i decided to want to go to a 4bbl because they are more efficient so better gas mileage. Or atleast i hope so. Just keep that original carb, you may want it later.

I bought the kit, and spent a few hours rebuilding my 4V 289 carb. But, I ended up buying a new Holley electric choke for $250 instead.

I'd skip step 1 and just get a new carb.

depends what kind of carb do you have if you got an edelbrock i can give u a guide of mine to rebuild it and clean it. otherwise if ur stock 2 barrel going 4 may be a good choice i love my 4 barrel lol and u do get better milage....as long as you don't floor it every time ur accelerating.
