Question 1966 Mustang Coupe Power Steering Pump Color?

I am touching up (cleaning/painting) my 66 289 engine and bay... Was thinking of the p/s pump and color to paint that.

What color should I paint power-steering pump (black/teal)? Seen a few online but all are painted different colors.

I am not doing a concours restoration, but want to at least get the correct colors matched up on the motor.

thx

It depends on who supplied the pumps, the Eaton were black and the Ford (TRW sourced) were teal.

Add in the fact some cars have been restored once or more than it's possible th pump was painted motor color or something else by someone who didn't know or care.

Your pump looks like it's been replaced by the stampings on it, it looks like a rebuilt/remanufactured unit, with that there's no way to know what your car originally had. Since the current pump is black you might as well paint it black, and since you're not going concourse, you just want the original look it will be fine.

Hopefully a 1969 convertible or Sportsroof (non Mach or Boss) for next Mustang project

Trying to find my father's 1973 Mustang Grande he bought brand new. 3F04F126773 last known registration and title was in New Jersey, 1982.

Yeah, makes sense... i think it would look better in black anyway.

Thanks!

I just had mine rebuilt professionally in Texas. It came back teal. It looks odd under the hood but it was said to be correct and I figure the more colors the merrier, but thats just my thoughts.
