Default Which Headers to use

Ok, so I am close to being done with the rebuild, now I have heard many horror stories about headers. So now the question, I have the 1968 with the 289, which off the shelf headers will fit without cutting anything under the hood???? The engine has a cam, 30 over pistons, edelbrock manifold and 650 cfm carb......already picked up flomaster 40's,

I've got JBA shorty headers, they bolted right in and don't rub the ground on speedbumps.

You shouldn't have any issues with fitting LT headers with a 289 in a 68 engine compartment. (Headmen/Hookers/Tr-Y's etc.)

Is it common for LTH to sit lower than most OEM headers...and drag on speed bumps (as was mentioned above)?

In another thread it has been mentioned that LTH will require you to cut your exhaust back to fit them in.

Do you have PS? You will need a drop bracket with some LTH which increases the stress on the bracket, I have read of many tearing out of the mount due to the lowered position.
There are a few co's with LTH that don't require a drop bracket, MAC was the only set I could find <$200-$400 depending on bare>ceramic coated.
