Default PCV System Implementations

My last post lead me into this one. I currently have both valve cover's PCV ports unoccupied. I did some carousing around the internet and have found some information and recommendations on how best to implement the system.
As I'm to understand it, fresh air should be drawn in through the driver's side valve cover, into the engine, and out the passenger's side. What I'm seeing though, is thin gaseous smoke coming out of both ports.
The system that makes the most sense to me is to have them feed into a (I can't remember the term for the life of me) jar, where all the solids build up at the bottom and the rest evaporates out through a filter. Unfortunately, these tend to be pretty pricey for what they are. I tried using a spacer but ran into problems with it, so I'm at a bit of a loss as to what's the best path.
I was hoping to get your advice, insight, and experience on how best to implement the PCV system and what my options are. I wouldn't mind spending a bit of money if someone out there is selling a complete streamlined solution. Thanks guys!

The more effective of the two to address is the driver side since it blows back into your induction in order to comply with emmisions. This line alleviates crank case pressure but the negative is that it returns atomized oil into your intake charge which can build up over time reducing your performance. Check out the site for air/oil separators. Some guys have come up with some pretty good, inexpensive solutions that range from Home Depot parts to braided lines and polished catch cans. Good luck

I'm sorry, I realized I forgot to specify what year I've got and such. The car in question is a '65 with a recently rebuilt 302. From a legal standpoint, I'm not obligated to worry about emissions. Let me take a look around and see if I can find any good do-it-yourself solutions. Thanks!

I know there is some debate about using vacuum to assist with the crank case pressure especially for F/I cars, but K&N offers breather filters that could probably meet your needs and allows the gases to vent to the atmosphere instead of reingesting them. Hope that might be a little more help full.

This is one of the separator tanks offered by Moroso that you can use with some fuel lines and clamps
