Default Seat Belt retractor location

Hi Guys,
I just bought 2 front retractable (original) seat belts for my 66 coupe.
I am wandering if somebody can tell me from which side should I bolt the retractor?
Please let me know.
Thanks
Alex

Should it be bolted at the door side connector or in the middle of the car behind the center console?
Anyone?

That was the factory way. Once you get it mounted then every time you slip and the belt gets away from you, the buckle end will retract and beat the crap out of either the sill plate or the trim on the side of the seat. If you get really good at it you can even make holes in the door trim panel! It was a plot by Ford to sell more replacement parts.

Been there, done that.

thats true but it just wouldnt feel right. I put three points in my car so i had to mount mine the traditional way. and i end up chipping the paint on the inside of my door.
