My '69 has a thick coating inside the doors that is coming off in chunks. Just curious what it is and what you guys did to replace it?

Also, when cleaning the mounts that adhere to the bottom of the window...any tricks? And how clean do they need to be?

Well, one thought is it could be an old body repair. However, if you are looking for sound deadener, one old standby is Dynamat. for rustproofing, look for "Osfo" or the 3M product, Rustfighter-I.

The coating in the door definitely looks like it's from the factory. But since it's coming off I should probably take it all off and replace it. Just curious what its job is so I know what to replace it with.

So "Osfo" or Rustfighter-I is better than, say, Zero Rust or POR-15?
