Default 1968 Swing Away Steering Question

Im redoing a 1968 Mustang Convertable and it has the swing away steering option. If the steering column relay switch or the vacuum release valve and starting solenoid is bad. will this prevent the car from starting? Does the vacuum line coming off it that runs out the firewall. does it just plug into a port on the intake manifold? thanks chris

I would suggest you buy a aftermarket electrical diagram form one of the mustang parts supplier. they have a good diagram, both electrical and vacumn in them. To anwers your question, yes you can bypass this switch, but it would then let you start the car without having the steering wheel in its proper position.

i found where i can and bypassed the switch for now till i can do more research on it. I found that when you pull the plunger out then it closes the circuit and will let the car start. need to figure out how it all works. only have a cable coming off it that runs into the steering column. i dont see a way to adjust it.
