Hi
I've a little question to the experienced ford mustang enthusiasts. I've a '64 Ford mustang and now i'm restoring it. Some time ago i've restored the differential and axles by replacing bearings, bearing cups, gaskets and everything what i've thought had to be replaced. When i've assembled the axles i've noticed that when i'm moving it a little there's a noise of pinging coming out. As i thought it were the gears that are a little untight. I've replaced pinion depth shim but it didn't help. then i've checked bearings and the level of tightness between them and everything seems to be ok. And my question is: is it ok, when there's a little noise of pinging coming out or should i replace ring and pinion gear?
Mustangs Unlimited - The Premier Source for Mustang, Shelby and Cougar Parts and Accessories - this are the two things between which there's a pinging or untightness.
ps. The differential and drivetrain in general wasn't being restored or even opened for 100 000 miles.
