Default 289 engine problems

Hello. I have a 67 Mustang with a 289 slightly modified, I put a 570 holley electric choke, when I start it, it pops and it wont stay running or idle, is it a timing issue? any suggestion Thanks jeff

Cold start popping (through the carb) and dying is usually an indication of having a lean fuel mixture. Check that the choke is operating properly, closed on start. Double check the timing.

Double check the timing, did you take the dist. out? could be 180* out from TDC, do you have a timing light?
Did you remove the spark plug wires? recheck that the wires match your firing order.
