Default no start but cranks

I have 1966 mustang 6 cyl cranks but wont start,no spark coming out of coil but i do have 12 volts at the coil do i have a bad coil ?thanks

welcome to the forums!

i would assume bad coil if no spark is comeing out

i have yet to find some one else who when changing their oil ( every 2000 miles or when they get bored ) details the under side of their car.

X-C April 2010,Heads, Cam,Internals April 2011, or blown engine, witch ever comes first.

You havent mentioned the distributor, it won't spark if thats not right.

looks like new condensor and points in distributor but shoulnt i get spark directlly from the coil?

If you take the centre lead out of the cap & flick the points you should get a spark from the coil lead.

I've got the same thing happening with my '66 too, but it's a 302 with pertronix electronic ignition. I haven't changed the distributor cap and rotor yet. Did you come up with anything to be sure it's not the coil?

The best way to eliminate any suspect part/componant is to try a known good one in it's place.
