Default 351 c w/torker intake,Holley 600,Will not idle.

Is my carb to small ?this is a 4bbl cleaveland, with headers, pertronix ign, crane cam 272dur/524lift,fmx auto trans.I read where big cams cause low intake vacuum. With this carb , idle circuit cannot supply sufficient fuel to run at light trottle,Does anyone have this combo on there engine. What carb do i need? Thanks

Will you engine not idle at all?? Did you just perform any engine work? Your combo sounds good. 270 duration is really not enough to cause idle nightmares (unless it's @.050) Your engine MAY have trouble idling in gear with a stock converter.. but I'd lean towards a vacuum leak or basic tune-up stuff. Your carb should be fine, long as you haven't adjusted it so far your out of the idle circuit. Please give some more specifics on your symptons and your engine combo. Gearhed

i really want to think its a vacumm leak,it will only idle @ 1000 rmp for maybe 4 seconds then the idle will rise to about 1400,the tach is all over the place. It just want hold @ 1000 rpm for me to spray carb cleaner around to check for intake vacuum leaks.I had this intake checked for cracks and warpage.all was good. Then i found out that i was not to use the stock metal intake gasket with this torker intake. It said to use fel-pro 1228 printoseal gaskets.so i put these gasket on.i used gasket silicone and the rubber gaskets on the front and rear of the intakeThe reason i did this was because it looked to me with just the silicone i was able to see with a flashlight that it wasent sealed.I did not have it bolted down when i noticed this.In other areas of the intake (front and back of intake)the silicone oozed out but not in that one spot.So i put on the rubber end gaskets with silicone.AWWWWWWWWW what a frecken mess! Please help!!!

If i was to put a vacuum tester on my car can anyone tell me how to do this?My intake has one vacuum port on the back side ,and it goes to the modulator valve on the trans. The vacuum advance hose on my distributor goes to the carb, on passenger side by where the fuel/air screws are.

I'd use the vacuum port from the manifold.
Something is going on with your intake, maybe remove the carb and see if you can see the intake/head where they meet, they may not be lining up. I once had a very eratic idle on a camaro... did all the vacuum checks, sprayed it down with carb cleaner hoping for a idle rise, nothing. I put my hand over the carb and it kept on running, replace manifold gasket and all was well.
