Default replacnig a 289 with 351

i was thinking about buying a rebuilt 351 for 800 dollars and replacing my 289 with it. is it better to do this than buy parts for performance upgrades for my 289? i have 1966 c code. also will it fit in the engine bay without modifications? the 351 comes with everything (water pump, alternator, fan, etc.)

A thing to consider with buying a cheap rebuilt motor is how well its built. I know I would take the chance though even considering all the horror stories out there. That 289 can be a screaming motor, but you would have to rebuilt the bottom end and replace the top end parts. If your motor now has a quality rebuild recently, i would stay with the 289 and maybe get some used aluminum heads and such. Just depends on the budget you have and the power you want to make. A 351 is the easiest way to get lots of power though, and the fact that it comes with all the new parts, i say 351 all the way.

for the 351, do i need new motor mounts and stuff? also for headers, can tri-y's fit a 351? if not, what does fit it? are the original exhaust manifolds that the 351 had too restrictive?
