65 stang water pump?

65 stang water pump?
Who's bright idea was it to put the timing chain in the water pump and attach the water pump to the oil pan? Why in the world would they do that?!!

It's not. Water pump and timing cover are two separate assemblies. Timing cover covers timing chain and attaches to the pan. You can change the water pump w/o changing the timing cover.
