Default '66 mustang w/ 351C- putting in a T5 help!

I currently have a aod in my '66 with a 351 C and was planning in putting a T5 in it. I already have the transmission which came out of a '93 mustang GT 5.0 which I understand are the T5's that can handle the most power compared to the other years. Anyway, my question is that what kinda of upgrade would I have to do in order for the transmission to be able to handle the power of a 351C? I heard that the 351C will tear up this tranny. Can I possibly do any of these upgrades? ANd also what kind of flywheel and cluch kit would you recommend? I'm trying to go the least expensive route but not poor in quality. THanks

I used to have the same problem. I have a stroked 347 in my 66 coupe and converted to a T5. Unfortunately none of those I found were able to upkeep the torque the motor is producing.

So finally I ended up letting a friend of mine building me up a new one based on a used housing. He has bought all the reinforced components to make sure the tranny can handle the torque. He is running a Mustang shop called Precision Machines in Lodi, CA and his name is Kevin Sittner. The phone no. is 209-369-2600. So far he has build up many highly modified mustang for both street and race purpose and takes part in vintage races with his 68 Shelby GT-350.

Tell him Dennis has sent you and that you are looking for a similar solution he has done for me. He will help you with any questions you have and find the right solution for ur budget.

I also have another question. My '66 is currently an automatic as stated before and obviously I have to switch the brake pedal to the clutch/brake pedal assembly. So I have a buddy who is switching his '67 from a manaul to an automatic and said that he would give me his clutch/brake pedal assembly, but I was wondering if the assembly from a '67 would fit or work on a '66?

so I finally I found clutch/brake pedal assembly for my '66 mustang yesterday and noticed that the support has wear on the hole where the pin for the clutch pedal goes through, kinda looks like an oval shape now. So my question is, the support for the brake/clutch pedal assembly, is it the same exact support used for the automatics brake pedal assembly? Because if it is, I could just reuse the original on my '66 which I'm guessing shouldn't be in bad shape since its an auto. Any help with this?

i have the same swap done on my 65, 351c mated to a wc t5. the transmission will take the beating, i read on one of these posts that aslong as u aint doing hard launches with slicks the trani will be fine. mine hasnt exploded and i have lots of bolt ons, and support mods. im not sure what ur trying to ask with the pedal assembly, i swapped from c4 auto to t5.
my set up was a little over $1k thats pedal, clutch, starter, mount, flywheel, yoke, hydro clutch kit, if u can do fab work, u can save some money on the mount and installation. im only like 140 pounds 5'7", i got that thing in my 65 by myself, with the car lifted only like 10 inches off the ground. i had to drag the trani under the car, and put it all together under the car. it was fun.

Yeah, I mostly have everything I need for the conversion. A buddy of mine fabricated the crossmember for me off some dimensions that I found online. All I really need is the flywheel and the clutch/pressure plate. Not really sure what will work for me or what one I need. I'm new to messing around with clutches and stuff. As for my question about the brake support bracket, I'm asking is the brake support bracket that is already in my car which holds up the brake pedal, is it the same brake/clutch support bracket that came with the clutch/brake pedal assembly? What kind of mods do you have on your 351c?

As for my wheels, unfortunately I had to use wheel adapters but just for the front two wheels so that I have about 1 1/4 inches of space so that they didn't hit the upper control arm. Never had any problems with them.

yeah its the same support bracket. u need a 28oz imbalance fly wheel 157 tooth, u can use one out of an earlly 302, but those use the earlly style pressure plates, i used a flywheel with the bolt pattern for newer style pressure plates out of the fox body cars.
i got full msd ignition digital 6, wires, blaster coil, and ready to run pro billet dist, accel u grove shorty plugs. milodon 7 qt oil pan, and windage tray, weiand xcelerator intake, hooker super comps, summit turbo mufflers with xflow exhaust. blue elec holley fuel pump, and regulator holley 670 vs, w quik fuel primaries, custom cai.

oh, ok. Do you know how much your car is pushing? And I guess I could just use the support bracket thats already in my car since the other one from the clutch assembly is all worn out. Another question about the flywheel, you said that you got one from a fox body? Dont those flywheels have a 50oz imbalance? Which flywheel and clutch combo with be better or cost efficient, the early style or the late model style? Exactly what kind of car did you get it out of and did you get it new or out of a donor car? If new, where did you get it at or what are the part numbers?

it has the same bolt pattern, as the ones out of the foxbody stangs, its not out of one. i dont know how much its pushing, 351c 2v stock pushes 250 hp. as cost effectiveness goes man, idk, that research ull have to do urself. just google 157 tooth 28oz imbalance fly wheel for ford small block ford.
