Apparantely a Granada can be used as a donor car for the first generation Mustang. I haven't personally done this, but I know others who have. You could also search for the same year Mustang for a donor car as they came with discs.

Default disc brakes for 67 coupe

Does anyone happen to know exactly what year(s) of the Ford Granada you can use the disc brakes off of to fit the first generation mustang? If anyone has any help what-so-ever it would be greatly appreciated. By the way, I'm new to the boards. My name is David, I'm 17 and i own a 1967 Mustang coupe w/ a 289 2 barrel and it's automatic. I had also thought about putting in a 4 speed. Any opinions, advice, tips, etc. are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Welcome David!

You need 76-79 V8 Granada. Do not use 6cyl. The rotors are only 10".

Grab every thing from the spindle out. Including flex lines and mount

When changing this, do i need to change the tie rod ends too? A few people have said that i will need to but i'm not for sure. And about the master cylinder, will i need to change it too or will it be enough boost to push the calipers?

You will need the outer tie rod from the Granada. It has the same threads as your adjuster sleeve. The adjuster sleeve can be reused but will need to be readjusted to have the same amount of threads from inner to outer tie rods. Some people say to find a longer sleeve. This is probably a better idea.

Forgot the M/C, sorry. The M/C from the Granada has a large reservoir for the disc brake use it. The combination valve should be used from the Granada too. Or a proportioning valve to the rear The combination valve is a "combination" of a proportioning valve and a safety valve. The saftey valve is there when, or if, you lose front or rear braking. It will slide to one side closing the ports to the front or rear brakes allowing you to use the set of brakes that are functioning. The disc will have better braking then the rear drums so the proportioning valve limits pressure to the rear brakes so they will not lock-up when you apply the brakes.

Exclamation disc brakes for a 1967 coupe

I am currently in the process of putting disc brakes on my car and found a 1977 Granada donor car that had a 6-cylinder engine and i was wondering if i could use this car's disc brakes on my '67 stang. If it's not possible, then why can't you?

Thanks,
David Adams

I feel inclined to say no on that one. Im not 100% positive that they wont work, but its better than saying they will when they wont. If you call up an auto parts store, get the part numbers for the brake parts you want to use, for both the Stang and the Granada. This may prove to be tedious because most stores dont have computer reference under 1969-1970, so find someone good with the book look-up. You can also try calling a tech at the ford dealership. I can see if Ford wanted to save money by using the same brakes, but the fitting of, and capability of the brakes is something to check on.

they should fit, however, you will need to change out more then just the hubs, you will need all the fittings, hoses, M/C, and other front end parts. I have a friend that just installed Stanless Steel disc kit on his 67 vert. and everything was there and only took him a day to di it Very good kit and easy to install.

What is the difference between the 6-cylinder braking system and the V8 breaking system? I have looked over both cars carefully and there doesn't seem like there would be any trouble, even the the donor car had a 6-cylinder.

They may have 10" rotors but would it be "good enough" for daily driving to work? And I was wondering if maybe the disc brakes from a Ford Torino might work, or any other car for that matter. I have been in search for a Granada that came out with a V8 but am unable to find one to due the popularity of the 6-cylinder in these cars. Any info is greatly appreciated! Thx.

What about a 1980 Ford Granada? will the disc brakes work off of it? I found one for $100 for the whole car and the car itself came out with a 302.
