I have a 67 fastback; front wheel power disc brakes, and rear drums. Everything is OEM ford,
The whole brake system was new 1 year ago.
Suddenly my car is pulling left when I brake, and the front of the car is not really diving down, and the car not stopping very well. It seems like the front brakes are not working much. When I bleed my brakes there is not a whole lot of pressure coming out of the valves, but there is some).
I checked the front calipers, they are working perfectly. I replaced the master cylnder, still have the same problem. There is no visible leak anywhere. I have inspected the rear drums, and all is dry, and looks normal.
What else could cause this problem? Do I need to replace the master vac? Could it be anything else?
thanks
How did you check the front calipers to verify they were all working properly? I have read many posts that the stock 4 piston calipers were known to have one or more pistons cant in the bore and stick (since they are 4 opposing pistons instead of one or two on one side pulling opposite a pad). There were also known for sticking due to rust in the steel bore/steel piston. Many rebuilders use SS pistons to avoid the rust/sticking issue.
If it is the booster I don't know why it would pull to one side and you should feel the pedal bleed down if there's a vacuum leak I would think.
Warped rotor is another possibility.

the right side caliper has been replaced (as it was sticking), we inspected the left side, and visually all appears alright, (its less then a year old). The disks appear to be fine, no abnormal wear. They are a year old too. The pulling left is strange, as the wheel does not pull hard, it feels a bit like the rear is dragging the car left when I stop. However we pulled the drums off too, and everything is new, and in good shape. The adjustment of both sides is good as well.
I don't know much about what the power booster does? My mechanic tells me it's the only thing left to change. The brakes don't slowly lose power, there just is not much going on up front when I hit the peddle. The peddle is fairly hard when the engine is off...and is much too soft as soon as the car is started...it's not a proggressively spongy peddle..it's just bad.
My mechanic is baffled...and I'm about to blow my brains out, because this is the third time I've changed the whole system in two years.
If it feels like the rear is dragging check the rear wheel bearings, are they still the originals? I had this happen, a rear wheel bearing when dry (after 40+ yrs.) If I jacked up the rear in neutral, parking brake off (use chocks, etc. to make sure the car doesn't roll) I could spin one side and the opposite would drag.
